Marc and Holly Touranjoe

How long have you been connected with David’s Refuge?
2 Years
Please explain any diagnosis your child has, and you have experience with.
Our youngest daughter, Evelyn, was diagnosed with six complex heart defects and has had six surgeries since her birth in November 2022. Since her diagnosis, we have been in and out of the hospital, home on oxygen, and requiring and maintaining feedings through NG tubes and G-tubes. She is currently stable and will not need further surgeries until she is five years old. We love watching her grow and learn about the world around her and she truly is our miracle girl.
What is your favorite part of being a host?
Sharing our experiences with other families and being there to help when others need it. We have been through many difficult challenges and we want to be a support for those going through similar situations.
What is something you want your guests to know about you?
We have two beautiful daughters (Annabelle and Evelyn), and we live in Clay, NY. When we aren’t in the hospital or at home, you can find us on a long motorcycle ride, going to a Syracuse Crunch hockey game with our girls, or watching a movie as a family. We love Chinese food since we had it on our first date and now our girls love it too. While Marc is practicing his marksmanship skills at the range, Holly and the girls are out shopping or playing dress up.
What is a piece of advice you have found invaluable as a family with experience in special needs or a medically fragile diagnosis?
No matter how hard you may want to or try to, you cannot do it alone! There are people who want to help and it is important to utilize your resources and never feel guilty for doing so.
