Have you ever read a book that you just couldn’t put down? Each chapter draws you deeper and deeper into the story as the plot takes twists and turns you could never have imagined. It’s only when you get to the end of the book that you realize how each person, event and place fit together so that the story makes sense. As we reviewed the last two years of leading David’s Refuge, we felt as if we were reading a great novel. It is a story of great loss, yet a story of redemption. It is a story of broken families who discover they are loved and not alone. It’s a story of hope and love and caregivers being cared for.
These are the opening words of a letter Brenda and I wrote for our 2013 Annual Report.
